Living in Westminster, there are many local services and amenities that parents may find useful.
Nurseries, child minders and out-of-school hours clubs
For advice and information on nurseries, child minders and clubs that take place either before or after school and within school holidays, the Westminster Family service is a good place to start. The school has a link with the Wilberforce Play Project that runs at Wilberforce School. Children are collected by a staff member from the Wilberforce Play Project and taken to the play centre where care is provided until 6.00pm. Further information on this can be found on the same website.
Queen's Park also offers a range of after-school clubs on site. Information on these can be accessed in the after-school club section of the school website.
Parent and toddler groups
Many of our parents who havechildren at school will have younger siblings. Parents and toddler groups are for parents and carers with children under three years of age, but some are open to children under five. Parents must stay and are responsible for their children even though activities are usually lead by Westminster staff. Further information can be found on the Westminster website.
Library-based homework clubs
Several local libraries offer after-school homework clubs where support is given from friendly knowledgeable staff and volunteers during term time. The nearest public library to us that offer this service is Queen’s Park Library on Harrow Road.
Local libraries also offer activities to get pupils reading during the summer holidays: well worth checking out!
Activities for children
Children and young people aged 0-19 can apply for an ActiveWestminster Passport.
Young people or their parents/guardian can pick one up from one of the leisure centres listed below. They just need to fill in their details and take it to their leisure centre along with two forms of ID.
The new ActiveWestminster Passport will be issued there and then.
Call 020 7641 2012 or ask at your local leisure centre for details.
