As a school we have had a focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing for a few years. Prior to the release of the 'Transforming Children and Young People's Mental Health' Government paper we had developed an approach which put mental health and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
We were encouraged by the introduction of a Mental Health Designated Lead within each school and as such created a Westminster Mental Health Designated Lead group. Through this we aim to meet regularly to establish:
Why this role is being introduced within education.
How this role sits within your school.
Key government papers and research that sits alongside this.
What this role now means for schools.
What this role entails.
How best to prepare for it.
What schools need to know.
Where to start and how to get ready.
Whole school approaches
Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing
Parental Mental Health and Wellbeing
Further to this, we regularly run Mental Health Designated Lead training through Westminster and London Grid for Learning.
