  • Grenfell Tower - A message to our community

    Sun 18 Jun 2017
    Grenfell Tower fire
In the wake of the Grenfell fire tragedy, Queen's Park Primary School stands with our community, particularly those who have been uniquely affected by what has happened.

The support shown across the country has been unwavering. The desire to help, to do something, to not stand idly by, has been seen across all sections of our community.
In the aftermath of this tragedy, there will be anger, sadness, anxiety and a hope for justice. People have lost their lives, families have been made homeless and the trauma suffered by so many will last a lifetime.

As a school and as a community we will continue to support those in need. While we can never replace what has been lost, we will do everything in our power to give support.
As a school and a community we will continue our commitment to fostering compassion for others and unconditional respect for those who freely help others in need.

On behalf of all of us at Queen's Park Primary School we send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the Grenfell community.

    Ben Commins, Headteacher
    Lyndsy Killip, Deputy Headteacher
    Simon Kaplan, Chair of Governors

This term has been a very busy term with lots going on. We have made new links with the RSPB who have given opportunities for our children to go birdwatching in Paddington Rec. We have been had big meetings with the head of the triborough library service, head of the sports centres in Westminster and the Lord Mayor's Office to make a comprehensive programme for our Children's University over the next few months.

We are also delighted to share with you that our 'in house' Author Avril Macdonald was awarded 'People's Choice Award' for 'The Wolf is Not Invited'

Today we were visited by 2 authors who came into school to share with our children how to write a book. Our intervention groups for dedicated writers got to ask questions of Georgina and Emma authors of 'The College Collection'.

Needless to say, a great time was had by all!

Georgina and Emma praised our children for such fantastic story writing and good questioning. I think we have some authors in the making!

  • Music is everything

Sun 05 Mar 2017 Lyndsy Killip

On Saturday 4th March our keen Year 3 musicians were invited to perform at Royal Festival Hall. Along with Mr Almond, our well rehearsed violinists and singers performed amongst many National Philharmonic Musicians and children from across a number of schools.

Many parents were in the audience beaming with pride as their children performed the songs they had practiced with Music Masters, our 'in house' musician team.

As Deputy Head at Queen's Park I was delighted to see such talent and can't wait to see future performances.

Well done to all those who managed to be there.

  • Rocket STEAM

    Thu 02 Mar 2017

Nick Corston of STEAM Co came to visit Queen's Park on Thursday. As part of world book day, Reception to Year 6 got to take part in an assembly based on the book and film 'Rocket Boys' a journey of aspiration, invention and family.

Following the assembly we all went outside to watch an official Rocket Launch from our playground. The children absolutely loved it.

Year 4 were lucky enough to then make their own rockets and with the help of Nick try launching them.

Thank you Nick for a great day!

Mon 20 Feb 2017 Lyndsy Killip

On Monday 20th February we had a very exciting day at Queen's Park Primary. We officially became Westminster Children's University. We welcomed 5 neighbouring schools, St Stephen's, St Lukes, St Peter's, Essendine and Hallfield and with the help of famous Author Michael Rosen we officially launched.

Westminster Children's University is designed to raise aspirations of the young children across Westminster. Over 500 children have been issued with a passport which will allow them to collect stamps which later convert into a graduation at the University of Westminster.

Already organised activities include sporting events with QPR, author workshops with Feel Brave Author Avril McDonald, dentist workshops, cross rail science workshops and art activities to improve the facias of Westminster Construction sites.

We are excited to begin our mini lecture series with the University of Westminster bringing guest speakers, local community champions running a young champions project and first aid for all year groups.

If you have any questions about our Westminster Children's University please see Mrs Killip or Miss Wilson.
