Miss Asbury's Class
In year 3, we have started the year with our whole school book The Great Paper Caper by Oliver Jeffers. We've had lots of fun writing letters and using natural resources to create woodland designs inspired by the scenery in the story. As we continue into the Autumn term, we will be exploring a variety of texts linked to our topic of The Stone Age, starting with Ug: Boy Genius of the Stone Age!
In Maths, we have been revisiting place value, we've been impressed with the children's enthusiasm and knowledge and will be using this foundation as we move onto addition, subtraction, multiplication and division over the coming months.
PE will be on a Wednesday, starting with football skills for the first few weeks and handball after October half term. Please make sure your child is dressed in PE kit on Wednesdays. Homework will be sent home on Fridays: Maths, English and Spellings, to be marked and tested the following Friday. Children should be taking ownership over these tasks; please let us know if you have any concerns. We suggest that you listen to your child read for 15-20 minutes every day, and children are invited to change their reading books once finished (there is no expectation to change larger, 'chapter' books every day).
A reminder to please make sure your child brings their water bottle to school.
It's been a brilliant start to the school year and we're really excited for the coming months and all the learning we're going to do!
